The film was set to take place in the park, but had to be moved inside because of the rain. Despite the rain, 314 were in attendance. Lots of smiles were evident during the event. Gamaliel Gonzalez, a pastor in Xcan and coordinator of evangelism for the Missions organization, Message for the Mayans, directed the event. His message was translated into Maya.
Many responded to the call to accept Jesus following the film. Randall Groves, the father of Eric Groves, the missionary hosting the event, traveled from North Carolina to be present for the showing of the film. Gamaliel, pictured here, leads evangelism teams each week with the goal of planting churches throughout southeastern Yucatán and into Quintana Roo. We're currently exploring how we might be able to join forces to fulfill this vital need.
I traveled the 3.5 hours from Mérida with four Bible School students (from left to right) Carlos, Roberto, Gamaliel, and Efren.
We stopped at Burguer Kíin on the way home, this the Chemax's answer to Burger King
